Additional information
At Park we recognise that our business activities have direct and indirect impacts on our environment. We manage these in a responsible manner, ensuring we make a positive contribution towards sustainability. It is our intention that our employees, customers, suppliers, local environment, global environment and future generations will all benefit from the action we take now.
Our quality management system (QMS) is certified to ISO 9001 and our environmental management system (EMS) to ISO 14001. Both systems are active, with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
In July 2009 Park achieved EMAS certification, one of only 6 printers in the UK to reach this status. We produce an annual EMAS statement, which contains annually verified data. Please click on the following link to view our EMAS statement: http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/bc68bfaa
Park gained FSC Chain-of-custody certification in 2007 and hopes to complete PEFC certification by the end of this year.
Park is a CarbonNeutral® Company and as part of our commitment to the environment, and via a special relationship with the CarbonNeutral® Company, we can manufacture documents that carry a CarbonNeutral® Publication logo. This works by Park offsetting any excess carbon generated during the manufacture and the delivery of the document.
99% of our production waste is recycled, which means only 1% goes to landfill. These waste streams include: white paper, cardboard, polythene, aluminium printing plates, treated Computer-to-Plate (CTP) water, empty ink tins and metal drums, waste blanket wash and other solvents, and broken pallets (pallets are re-used where possible). Greater emphasis has been placed on increased segregation to increase the percentage of waste recycled. A new on-site bailing facility enables the compaction of segregated polythene and cardboard. We also recycle toner cartridges, fluorescent light tubes, WEEE and mobile phones. Factory paper waste is fed directly into an extraction system to an external compactor, and all binned (office) paper is added manually.
