Environmental Status
In the UK we are registered to BS EN ISO 14001:2004. We are externally audited by BSI, a UKAS accredited auditor). We have held this accreditation since April 2000.
The International Stralfors Group also holds ISO 14001 (externally audited by Det Norske Veritas) across many of our factories in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. In addition to this the Scandinavian units are licensed for environmental labelling of printed matter with the Nordic environmental mark, The Swan.
Our policy for ethics and morals is based on four sources; The United Nations general declaration of human rights, The International Labour Orginisation’s (ILO) basic principals for labour legislation, The OECD’s guidelines for multinational companies and Social Accountability 8000 (SA8000).

Work Undertaken
Strålfors Plc, a group subsidiary of Posten AB, is an IT-focused Business-to-Business company with a print heritage providing total solutions within the field of information transfer. Stralfors develops, produces and delivers systems, services and products for the efficient communication of information crucial to operating a business. Our customer communication solutions in the UK cover Gaming Solutions, Business Forms, Security Print, Transactional Mail and Plastic Card Solutions as well as Promotional and Marketing Campaigns.
Additional information
- We reduced waste sent to landfill by 11%. Compared to 2004/05 we are spending £7000 less per annum sending 70% less waste to landfill.
- We have reduced the consumption of Alcohol on the printing presses by 52%
- We implemented an efficient lighting system saving over £11,000 per annum / 60,000kg of C02. The system has an operating life of 11-12 years and pays for itself in 15-16 months.
- We implemented a traffic light scheme on power switches to encourage colleagues to save energy.
- We have reduced our packaging recovery obligation by 12%.
- We won the Best Large Business category at the Cornwall Sustainability Awards and were Runners up in the Low Carbon Business category.
- We are major contributors to the Devon and Cornwall Power Efficiency Team and the South West Major Energy Users Forum.
- We won the BPIF Printing World Environmental Excellence Award for 2008
- In January we won the Excellence in Business Training Award for Environmental Management
- In September 2009 Stralfors became PrintWeek's Environmental Company of the Year
- We have installed a Power Perfector saving over 10% on our annual electricity bill
- We have moved all of our servers to a Virtual Environment saving 30% on energy costs
- We have installed an auto power shut down on our paper shredder units by fitting ‘Power Boss’ equipment saving £1,500 per annum
- Total carbon savings associated with these projects is not less than 300,000 Kg CO2……………….depending upon the type of carbon calculator used
